Students Mobility for Studies and Traineeship

Students wishing to study or carry out a traineeship at the University of the Aegean must apply beforehand by forwarding to the Erasmus+ Office all the documents required.

Application and Nomination deadlines for incoming Erasmus+ students 

Students intending to study at the UAegean are advised to meet the below deadlines. Nomination from Sending Institution to UAegean Erasmus+ Office is mandatory before the students send their application for studies to Erasmus+ Office.

For winter semester

15th June.

For spring semester:

15th October.

 

Students intendng to carry out a Traineeship at the UAegean are advised to contact Erasmus+ Departmental coordinators or academic staff members of the department they wish to visit, in order to agree bout the program of Treaineeship before sending their application to UAegean Erasmus+ Office

All documents must be in English and sent to erasmus@aegean.gr.

  • Application Form for Studies or for Traineeship

  • Learning Agreement for Studies *or for Traineeships. University of the Aegean is connected to Online Learning Agreement Platform (Ola platform) https://learning-agreement.eu/  and Erasmus+ incoming students for studies are advised to fill in their LA digitally through the platform. (Please note that University of the Aegean in OLA Platform is in the official registered name: PANEPISTIMIO AIGAIOU  - Erasmus Code: G ATHINE41). For UAegean as receiving institution, students should use the email of the Erasmus+ academic coordinator of the Department they are interested to apply for. Email address of Erasmus+ departmental coordinators are available in the website:  https://erasmus.aegean.gr/en/departmental-coordinators Courses offered in foreign language for Erasmus+ students in each department may be found in the link:  https://erasmus.aegean.gr/en/node/82. Students are advised to discuss with Erasmus+ departmental coordinators via email about the components they want to include in their learning agreement for studies (LA). LAs should include at least 2 components offered by the department which will enroll the Erasmus+ student. Inclusion of components offered by different departments in the same island than the department of enrollment is possible upon discussion with the Erasmus+ departmental coordinator. - Important note: During the application procedure, LAs through OLA platform need to be signed only by student and responsible person at sending institution. Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinators at UAegean, who are the responsible persons at Receiving Institution, will sign the LAs after the application procedure.    

  • Short CV

  • Certificate of Competency in English (minimum level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Languages:
    http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/resources/european-language-levels-cefr). Knowledge of a second language will be taken into consideration.

  • Transcript of records (only for Studies)

  • Photocopy of passport or ID card

  • Photocopy of Visa for the mobility period at UAegean, Greece (if required, for participants with nationality from non-EU Countries)

  • Photocopy of the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Students cominfg from non-EU countries are requested to submit copies of the required private health insurance contracts to the Erasmus+ Office before their arrival at UAegean. 

  • Photocopy of personal accident insurance (only for Traineeships)

  • Photocopy of civil liability insurance (only for Traineeships)

Acceptance decision

The University of the Aegean will send its decision within 4 weeks after application deadline, provided that the nominated students have sent complete application files. The students accepted by the UAegean will receive via email a letter of acceptance.

Language of Instruction and Courses

Courses information

Courses at University of the Aegean are taught in Greek, which is the official language of the institution. However, there are some courses offered in foreign languages, mainly in English, as well as special arrangements for Erasmus+ students, such as tutoring-type or reading-type courses in english or assignment of essays in foreign languages with the use of bibliography in small groups of students.

In addition, final year undergraduate incoming Erasmus+ students may also choose to conduct all or part of their thesis project at the University of Aegean. Any student seeking to undertake part or the whole of a thesis project at the University of Aegean needs to look for and get in touch with potential supervisor(s) at the host Institution and make the necessary arrangements well in advance. Should a student choose to conduct only part of his/her thesis project, then he/she may need to select an additional number of courses offered in English in order to complete the required number of ECTS credits.

Exceptional Changes to the Study Programme

Any party can request changes to the study programme within five weeks after the start of each semester. These changes should be agreed by all parties as soon as possible, within two weeks following the request. In case of the changes due to an extension of the duration of the mobility, a request can be made by the student at the latest one month before the foreseen end date.

Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinators

Erasmus+ Departmental Coordinators in the UAegean will provide you advice on academic issues (for example, possible changes in your learning agreements during your studies in the UAegean). Practical Issues


Accommodation:

Incoming students may be entitled to free accommodation depending on room availability. If you are allocated a room, you will be informed in advance.

Visas: Detailed information for foreigners wishing to visit Greece and, by extension, the Schengen Area (visa requirements by country of origin, Greek or foreign Authorities that issue visas for Greece abroad) are provided at the official website of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs http://www.mfa.gr/en/visas/

Enrollment at host Department 

Incoming Erasmus+ students are advised to arrange an appointment with the secretariat of the host Department of UAegean in order to enroll to the Department and receive acadmic credentials. After your enrollment, the Department’s Secretariat will provide you with a personal identification number (Registration Number “A.M.”) needed in order to activate a personal account and to receive your academic credentials (Username, password and an academic email account). Academic credentials are needed by 1st cycle (bachelor) students who apply for the issue of Academic Identity Card (Academic ID Card).

Student Academic ID card

Erasmus+ incoming students for studies can apply for the issue of Student Academic Identity Card, for the duration of their stay for studies at University of the Aegean. Applications are submitted on line by Erasmus+ students in the following link of the Greek Ministry of Education: Academic Identity Card Online Service - Informational_Portal (minedu.gov.gr)

At the above website you should select english language and then apply through the portal according to the cycle of studies you are registered at the host department of UAegean. This means that, following the guidelines provided in the above mentioned website, 1st cycle (bachelor) students follow different steps of the procedure than 2nd (master) or 3rd cycle (doctoral) students.  

Please note that you should not apply for Academic ID card through the eIDAS portal.

Please note as well that the issuing of the card may take approximately 2 weeks. 

The card identifies you as a student at the University of the Aegean and it gives the right of access to libraries, sport facilities, museums etc. It also enables you to buy with discount, tickets for boat, bus and other means of transport to/from the city of the host department. The card must be presented to controllers of public transportation organization whenever there is a ticket control.
